FROM MIKE’S DESK

As we move into the summer months, it’s crazy to me how fast the days go by. We have so many great things going on at Buechel Stone, and I’m excited to share how much can be accomplished when talented people come together around a shared purpose. June has been a great example of that spirit in action.

JUNE WEBINAR RECAP – Design Conversations Recap: When Stone Sets the Tone

Article content
Kristina Schreiner of Nest Design and Paul Hagen, Editor in Chief Stone Journal

June’s Design Conversations webinar, When Stone Sets the Tone, featured Stone Journal Editor-in-Chief Paul Hagen and designer Kristina Schreiner of Nest Designs + Build in an open discussion that explored Stone Journal’s featured article: French Connection and the role natural stone played in shaping its timeless French-country character. I can honestly say it was my favorite webinar so far. They are naturals and made it feel like old friends reminiscing about a truly great project.

Listening to Kristina’s passion for the project, and discussing all the intricacies really helped me appreciate how important it is for everyone at Buechel Stone to do what we can to make projects fun and exciting. If you missed it you can see the webinar in its entirety here!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this engaging discussion!

UPCOMING WEBINAR: UNDERSTANDING NATURAL STONE 3-PART SPECS

Article content
Understanding Natural Stone 3-Part Specs will cover Part 1 General, Part 2 Product, & Part 3 Execution

Join me on July 2 for our next AIA-accredited webinar, Understanding Natural Stone 3-Part Specs. I will attempt to walk you through something many people might find boring – the words that explain what happens after a Buechel Stone product is specified on a project. It is my goal to make this presentation one to remember, and go from words in a document to fully understanding the visuals 3 part specs create in real life on the project.

This one-hour course will provide practical guidance for creating effective natural stone specifications while exploring key considerations for product selection, installation requirements, and project detailing.

Participants will earn 1 LU | HSW credit while gaining valuable insights to help ensure project success.

I cannot overstate how excited I am about this presentation. Presentations like this separate the pros from the shmoes. I have learned through the years selling and promoting natural stone is one thing, but being able to have detailed and specific discussions on stone and installation is another. There are a lot of people to lean on at Buechel Stone. No one person may have all the answers, but they have a team to find those answers from. It could be me, maybe it’s Tony Mueller, our VP, sometimes it’s not even a Buechel Stone employee. Reliability comes from those who have the courage to say, “I’m not 100% sure, let me find out and get back to you shortly.”

So far I am very pleased with the attendance and audience interactions. Registration is now open, and architects, designers, and construction professionals need to reserve a spot today.

PROJECT SPOTLIGHT: PROGRESS OF CUSTOM STONE SEATING AT RED ARROW PARK

Article content
Fond du Lac variegated custom seating

Buechel Stone may be best known for its masonry applications, but in fact we do a lot of interesting landscaping projects as well. I would guess we do at least one amphitheater a year, and they really help create memorable public spaces.

This particular project is at Red Arrow Park in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. The new custom stone seating is overlooking Lake Michigan, and designed to serve as both a functional gathering space and an architectural feature. The seating showcases the versatility of natural stone in civic and community-focused projects. As the project takes shape, the amphitheater will offer a welcoming space for performances, community events, and everyday enjoyment.

We’re excited to contribute to a project that demonstrates how natural stone can bring people together while creating places built to stand the test of time.

Watch the video for a behind-the-scenes look at the project’s progress.

CLOSING THOUGHT

As we move into the heart of summer, I look forward to connecting with you at our upcoming educational programs. The next one is right on the doorstep of American History. We are about to celebrate our country’s 250 year anniversary, and as a bicentennial baby it feels just a bit more special. Thinking back to how far things have come in just 50 years, I cannot fathom what 250 years really means. Just think – 250 years can be just a quick blip in a well-crafted stone project. When I think about projects we are working on today that will likely be in existence hundreds of years from now, it makes you really appreciate how wonderful natural stone is.

Thank you for being part of the Buechel Stone story. We appreciate your continued partnership and support and look forward to sharing more updates with you next month.
